are following a deadly accident in redwood city. jackie sissel is live at the scene of the crash. we're pretty much in the heat of a commute at 68 am. does this seem to be affecting traffic at all? >> it is not really affecting traffic. there are several businesses in this area that the workers will be affected by. you could see the roadway on east bayshore remains closed. you can see police officers are still in the area investigating this fatal car accident that happened several hours ago. i don't think it will have much affect on 1 01 or traffic necessarily in that area. you could see some workers are being forced to walk down to their job. this happened earlier this morning when a single car driving down east bayshore lost control, i had a fire hydrant. a person inside the car was ejected and pronounced dead at the same. the car continued driving without a driver and it and ultimately crashed into a storage unit facility. not a lot of information on what caused the accident at this point daria. as they alert has been issued and 1 01 is just on the other side of those drums right there. ott

a kansas city restaurant was flattened in a huge natural gas explosion and fire. nbc's john yang is at the scene this morning. good morning. >> good morning, david. they're bringing in cadaver dogs and heavy equipment to look for one person still unaccounted for. given the enormity of this explosion, it is remarkable so far there are no official fatalities. daylight reveals the destruction caused by a massive explosion and raging inferno in an upscale shopping district. a popular restaurant levelled. the blast came at about 6:00 p.m., happy hour. the fire so big it engulfed an entire city street. the impacts of the blast felt blocks away. >> everything just exploded. it was just -- >> it shook the entire area. it set off all the car alarms through the entire block. the flames were even taller than the building next to it. >> reporter: at least 14 injured, one critically, taken to area hospitals. at a news conference officials said one person, a female restaurant employee, is still missing. >> we have been in contact with that person's family who is still missing and our sympathy

espinoza out of union city last seen running along the bank of the san lorenzo creek in the area of lewelling boulevard. police initially attempted to make a routine traffic stop. he allegedly got out of his car and took off. an officer caught up with him and tried to make an arrest. he allegedly tried to grab that officer's gun. then the suspect's girlfriend came out of a motel room and distracted the officer. that's when espinoza got away. >>> a santa clara man accused of making a death threat against state senator leland yee will be arraigned today in superior court and this morning, bomb experts continue to search basham's home. they say they found guns and explosive materials inside the house and yesterday they found some explosive devices. >> unlike the substance they found earlier in this investigation, which were incomplete, they were in the process of being completed and finished, these actual items were complete and they were ready to use. >> a police bomb unit from neighboring san jose carefully removed the devices and drove them to
